Principles of action
בית » About » Principles of action
  • Study from the community and with the community, designing working modules according to: what exists, the needs, the will, the dynamic and the rhythm of the people and the services which operate in the area.

  • Working from true partnership with the young women, and learning about her world through closeness, openness, day to day presence and by creating a dialogue. Building together a bond of commitment and joint responsibility.

  • Deep understanding of young women's struggles, as a product of social intersectionality which is composed of multiple crossed affiliations such as: gender, race, status, ethnicity, nationality, disability,  or sexual preference. Their social affiliations are a key element in understanding their obstacles and the possibilities for action.

  • Physical environment as a key setting factor, in designing help relationship and accessibility. Esthetic environment, advanced and professional Hair Salon.

  • The courtyard is located physically within the community. "Steady and permanent address within the community". An ongoing, steady and continuous address over years. Develop a "different" relationship then the functional, detached and distanced relationship of Institutional social services.

  • Multicultural work across: age differences (13-25), different and opposing nationalities (Jews and Arabs) and ethnicity (immigrants from former USSR, Ethiopia and Israeli born Israelis. The common ground is gender and poverty.

  • The base for any action is CHOICE. Suspending our own judgments, processing acceptance without cataloging or labelling, turning to help by choice, the women is in the center-the initiator, she is the "specialist" for her life, she "owns" the knowledge, she marks the point of actions in her perspective

  • Meaningful and significant relationships - close and continuous. The young women seen as important and of value to society.

  • The relationship is defined by accepting the subjective character of both the young women and the staff member through dialogue. The young women also share a dialogue concerning the designing of the space and the activities which take place. Empowerment through representation to powerful people in their community and in general by advocacy and active mediation.

  • Expanding the role of a social worker- the social worker is in independent person with the ability to act in a broad, flexible, accessible, equal, transparent and cooperative way. The social worker holds knowledge but she is not an outside specialist who takes decisions by her own and is solely responsible.

  • Service for the services - Helping the social services to be more effective and relevant to young women and their families. An active and intensive connection, collecting transferring information, participating in important committees and round tables, expanding the resources and taking responsibility and detection to the process.

  • Creating a community with in the community, having a place of their own- feeling connected, related and with ability to oppose oppression, discrimination and social supervision.

  • Working in 3 circles: Personal, family and community. In the community circle we work with key people in the community, businesses, public services and public figures – in moving towards changing policy.

  • Working in an all-female space

  • Meaningful and significant relationships - close and continuous. The young women seen as important and of value to society.
